How to dry fruit in an air fryer
The “Fruit” program on the HAG-8080 air fryer runs at 50 °C for 2 hours or more. Tips on slicing, temperature, cooling and storing dried fruit.
The “Fruit” program
- Fruit drying — 50 °C, from 2 hours.
Tips for drying fruit
- Slice thinly: cut slices 3–5 mm thick — the thinner the piece, the faster and more evenly it dries.
- Keep sizes even: cut all the pieces roughly the same size so they dry evenly.
- Pre-treat: sprinkle apples, pears or bananas with lemon juice to keep their color and stop them from browning.
- Low temperature: 60–70 °C is ideal, so the fruit dries rather than bakes. Time — 2–4 hours, depending on how juicy the fruit is.
- Layers and racks: spread the fruit in a single layer, and if you have mesh trays, use them to fit more in.
- Spices for flavor: lightly dust with cinnamon, vanilla or shredded coconut for a naturally sweet snack.
- Cooling: let the fruit cool completely before storing so no condensation forms in the container.
- Storage: keep dried fruit in an airtight jar or a zip-lock bag. In a cool place, it will keep its flavor for 2–3 months.
